Wow,

I didnt realise we had our hands so tightly bound on this forum. And also to make that judgement without actually listening to the track?

Ok, I will go somewhere else where i might be allowed a greater level of self-expression. Off to KVR...

This just reminded me of when i was trying to get a TI firewire card here in Australia. I managed to track down on online computer shop in the whole country that had them in stock - a delta card. Most non-audio folks just dont have the need. For some reason though i was able to get a friewire belkin...

Reward George?

Yeah im working on the clearance. Al Pacino and George Bush are hard to track down - so too Martin Luther Ki...

Bad spanish & a couple of spare weekends

Hey all, Just finished a new track called "Estoy Embarazada (Im Preganant)" which is up at my myspace site: www.myspace.com/fixederror Now i dont speak spanish (and im not a girl) so the vocals are courtesy of AT&T text 2 Speech program. For those of you who actually understand spanish...

Hello Alex, The driver that you need to use is the MOTU Audio ASIO driver. The first to are drivers for your onboard Windows soundcard whatever it may be. Your not gonna get any better performance out of those because theyre not meant for pro audio. ASIO 4 All is OK but you dont need it when youve g...

Hang on, are you using Vista? if so, then that is most certainly the problem. The MOTU drivers for Vista are, ahem, crap. Moreover, Vista just aint there yet for serious audio duties IMHO.

Cheers,

I did have the exact same problem with mine (the LCD was even shot as well). I really doubt it is anything other than a bad unit. I tried evrything - new firewire cable, new firewire card, drivers etc. But the clincher was just when i tried using it in standalone mode and it still happened. I sent m...

Dead LCDs have been a far too common problem with 828 MKIIs (mine died after 3 months) so i wouldnt be surprised if the UltraLite is no different. I guess you're still under warranty - in that case you can send it in and they'll do a refurb at no cost (apart from shipping) or if its out of warranty ...

Most likely the driver. Although MOTU has released drivers for Vista i sure as hell wouldnt touch them with a 40 foot barge pole. I would steer clear of Vista for serious audio for the time being - not enough creases ironed out. As for switching from games, project, there's your problem right there....

I guess one thing to check is the channel config in Live's preferences. I remember trying for ages to find the Mic 1 & 2 inputs from my 828 MKII in Ableton, only to realise that they come up as inputs 9 & 10. But youre talking outputs here. Hmmm, if you're getting test tone thru the monitors...

Twisted Logic

Hey all,

I just finished a new track. "Twisted Logic" its called & can be found here (or see below) :)
Any feedback most welcome. Maybe not everyones cup of tea but if you like a bit of synth and sampling nonsense then maybe it will be your thing!

James

Thanks for the comments :)

Yeah, we had access to the stems as mp3 files - drums, synths, bass, guitars, vox. I only used tidbits of the original sounds, except, of course, for the vocals.

You don't have a cell phone laying on it do you? Hehe, no. Actually now that im back home and the 828 is back in my studio i havent experienced it at all, although im using the same programs. However, i am experiencing a new strange problem. Sometimes all my audio in a project gets horribly distort...

I'd have to recommend the Muse Receptor for doing this stuff live. Although it only takes VST format plugins you can run it via the bundled Uniwire plugin which work in any AU compatible host. I would recommend just running it on its own however. Most plugins you already own can be crossgraded to th...

Re: 828mkII FW more stable with 3.5.3.2 drivers

I'd been having the following problem with my recently acquired 828mkII (firewire version): if I powered off the unit, then later powered it back on, Windows rebooted instantly (no warning, no blue screen, nothing in the event log -- just fell from the sky). Backdating the drivers to version 3.5.3....
