I'd been having the following problem with my recently acquired 828mkII (firewire version): if I powered off the unit, then later powered it back on, Windows rebooted instantly (no warning, no blue screen, nothing in the event log -- just fell from the sky).
Backdating the drivers to version 3.5.3.2 solved the problem completely. You can still get these on the MOTU website in the Windows 2000 section.

Re: 828mkII FW more stable with 3.5.3.2 drivers
True that. I tried all the drivers newer than 3.5.3.2 and they all caused weird problems with my 828MKII that i never had before with 3.5.3.2. In any event, i dont think that these "new" drivers offer anything for the 828MKII user; they're just updates to incorporate drivers for MOTUs newer units like the Ultralite and 8Pre. I guess "if it aint broke dont fix it" applies here.jsr wrote:I'd been having the following problem with my recently acquired 828mkII (firewire version): if I powered off the unit, then later powered it back on, Windows rebooted instantly (no warning, no blue screen, nothing in the event log -- just fell from the sky).
