hi terra, thanks for reply but i tried what you suggested before and you could hear the hard-drive fan whrring really badly through speakers.

i just solved the problem by fitting a 'ground loop isolator' from Maplin (check my post).
(yes,I have all the latest drivers for the 828, software and os)

I just bought a Shark 'ground loop isolator' (£8.00 in Maplin, product code:VW43W). fit it inbetween your sound card and your hi-fi/mixer and it completely gets rid of the problem. hope this solves everyones noise probs it did mine. cheers T
