For the movie to go through firewire "correctly" it needs to be in DV PAL codec. So, when exporting the Quicktime (from the original Handbrake file) you need to select "Quicktime Movie" and the the correct compression codec on the "Options" page. This is how I do it, at...

Open your movie and in the drop down menu on the movie window, there is an entry called "movie floats on top". Check it.
