I disconnected my FW iSight camera (external, not inside the monitor) and I haven't had the issue arise since. I imagine it's a conflict between the iSight camera and the FW MOTU 896HD. So, if you are experiencing this issue you might try disconnecting everything on your FW buss and see what happens...
