I'm in a similar spot: replacing my dual G5 with what? Is it foolish to think of an iBook with an external, faster drive? I'm open to a laptop, iMac, or a tower (I already have a 22" display). I don't run vast numbers of VIs, but do some video in Final Cut. Any opinions?

I found a fix, at least for now: I plugged the 828mk2 into a different firewire port on the computer (not a different port on the interface), and now it functions again. Amazing. Other firewire appliances (well, at least one, an iSight camera) works fine in the original offending port, so I don't kn...

Mine just froze last night; I can't hear iTunes through it, and it prevents DP6 from loading. Factory resets do nothing, and my phone to MOTU support has been ringing for 30 minutes so far. I will likely leave MOTU for a replacement interface, based on what I've seen in forums and the difficulty acc...

This thread may have gone cold, but I'll chime in, anyway. I, too, lost a bunch of audio, despite it having been formerly saved. Also, when working in iMovie 3, the same thing happens. So, I surmise that the problem may not lie in the program, but some larger system glitch. Alas, the lost audio left...

I'd have stayed with SVP, but it was so unstable, I was constantly rebooting. I moved to DP, but held onto OS9 as long as possible. That way, when it was time to grow up, I had to learn DP4, OSX, a new Mac (G5), and new interface all at once. It was not an effortless switch.
