Black fields in GUI - RESOLVED

Post by Musicmind »

Hi
I have just installed DP 11,22. When I launch it in Rosetta mode I sometimes have black fields in strange places. Also dialog boxes are sometimes black. Here it's the tool bar and add instrument track

I haven't encountered this behavior, but I haven't launched DP11 in Rosetta Mode for some time; basically since I first got my Mac Studio just over a year ago.

The only time I needed to launch n Rosetta Mode was when installing certain plugins, the only one of which that would still require DP running in Rosetta being Altiverb. Altiverb works great under DP Native after initial installation, but must first be installed and initiated in DP Rosetta to work.

The others have all either been updated to Apple Silicon-Native (a bunch of NI stuff mostly) or disregarded. The "disregarded" are BFD (had a Beta working for a time, but messed it up somehow and just haven't had time to fiddle with it since then) and several BOZ plugins that crash DP running Native, no matter the plugin format.

DP11.2 NAtive has been very solid for me on my Mac Studio Ultra. I'm still running macOS 12.6.1 as I haven't had time to play around with Ventura to date.

Rosetta mode is needed for VEPro, which isn`t ready for the new macs.

I have never seen this, but it has been reported by others. Could it be theme related? I, personally, am allergic to dark themes.

Way back in the Dark Ages (I know), this was an issue with certain 32 bit only plugs without Carbon support. They still worked after MacOS 10.8 but the GUI windows were dark so no adjustments were possible.

Eventually I replaced them in older projects. Good since they didn’t work at all after Catalina.

Hopefully, VEPro will get it together.

Hi

Motu support confirms it's an issue!
No cure for the moment.

Looks like VEP Apple Silicon-Native may be on its way soon.

I downloaded the latest release of VEP pro seven and in this release is supposed to be the foundation of Apple Silicon so it should be coming fairly soon. Also, there was an update for Synchron player as well.

I also get this issue all day every day. It was less prevalent at first, now almost every time I open or even change something in any window it will be blacked out. Closing and reopening the window will bring it back, but it usually takes several tries. Sometimes a window just WON'T open without being blacked out and I'll simply not be able to do what I needed to do, for instance if I'm trying to adjust something in Preferences. It's been taking substantially more and more close/reopens to get a window lately, with diminishing returns. Anyone have any tips on how to get around this until MOTU issues a fix?

Edit: FWIW I'm in Rosetta because I use UADx plugins, which crash DP without Rosetta. This is a known issue by MOTU, UAD and even our forum here :D

But yeah, HELP PLEEZ this sucks

I’m actually using UADx right now. The problem is powering your way through DP’s “Gathering Info…” process after AU validation. Once you make it through that (requiring several re-launches of DP), they seem to work okay.

James I'm happy your system is more solid but unfortunately I still get the UADx crash. Everything is on the latest versions. I don't have any "Gathering Info..." issues on my system that I can see. Just DP crashing when there are UADx plugins instantiated.

Is there a file I could delete to trigger a new "Gathering Info..." file being written? Maybe it'd renew something causing the crash but I'm not familiar with what to try specifically.

Earlier today, literally every open window was blacked out haha

I added a couple of my newly-purchased UADx plugins to the piece I am just wrapping up a mix on. Since then, I have had some strange "DP suddenly quit" messages when opening the project. Particularly strange because, if I click "OK" and don't quit the project, DP and the UA plugins then run perfectly!

I'm running DP11.22 Native under Ventura 13.5.1

Interesting! In my case DP disappears instantly with no dialog box.
