How to crash Finale 2014.5 every time...
Of late, when playing live on an attached MID kbd while Finale is open and active, after about 4 minutes of hard, dense playing, Finale crashes. Its the only time I have Finale crash. I suspect it has something to do with a MIDI buffer collecting notes and then crapping out when it gets full. Interesting bug...
C'mon MOTU. Do a notation app, and blow these guys out of the water!

Yeah, I've had a love-hate relationship with Finale for many years. Seems they always put adding new features above fixing old problems. A great MOTU notation app would be awesome.

Don’t you have 25 or did you return it? I’m curious if going 64 bit has any effect. It should, of course, but we are discussing Finale.

Yes I do have 25. Still a quirky program.

I still have it but can't use it when scoring to picture, which basically means I almost never use it. If there were advanced features I might consider importing it from 2014.5 to F25, but the scores are looking pretty damn good in the older version. TG Tools is wonky as hell in 2014.5.mikehalloran wrote:Don’t you have 25 or did you return it? I’m curious if going 64 bit has any effect. It should, of course, but we are discussing Finale.

Going back to the OP, why not try crashing the buffer in 25 and if it doesn't crash, open the .musx in 2014.5?

Does F25 open F2014.5 files? Maybe after I get thru the current project I’ll give that a shot. I got alligators up to my nipples.

And vise versa. Both open and edit .musx files. No need to Save as in another format.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Does F25 open F2014.5 files? ...

Re: How to crash Finale 2014.5 every time...
It’s probably easier to turn off MIDI thru or just move to the Finder when playing for an extended time. Kind of a pita since I would I’m usually watch the movie in Finale (which F25 simply cannot accomplish - regardless of the new ass backwards paradigm. So sorry to see the demise of the app.
