Hello! newbie to the forum here!
I have a macbook running yosemite and an older iMac.
One has thunderbolt/usb and the other firewire/usb
Which of the older Motu's will/won't work/should I avoid?
Or will they all be ok?!
Bearing in mind I really want it to work with BOTH so a thunderbolt/firewire adapter will be needed.
Is there anything I should know??
Any help much appreciated

Thanks!!

I *think* that the oldest one (assuming you might be looking on eBay) with Thunderbolt is the 828x.

Hope that helps!

What is it you want the interface to do? That would help us suggest models. I have an old 828mkII, and it worked fine under Yosemite with either FireWire or Thunderbolt (using an adapter and a hard drive that had FW800 and FW400 ports as a second adapter). Good for MIDI and ten channels of audio.

All Intel Macs are fine with USB.

Ok thank you!
So I want an interface with up to four audio inputs/line or mic.
The smaller the better for on location work.
MIDI is a bonus.
I have found an ultralite Mk1 which is a good solution?
Any help appreciated

I still use an original 'Traveller' (mk I) and it's been fine through all the years up to my current El Capitan OSX. It's about 12 years old I guess.

It's got 4 audio/mic channels, and a myriad of other choices. Check out the specs, as it might serve you fine as it does me.

Works fine with a Firewire 400/800 adaptor. Never a problem.
