Raising Funds for Bernie @ Nomad Factory

Post by DontCrack »

Dear friends,

I Hope this will not be considered as too intrusive...

Our long time partner Bernie Torelli at Nomad Factory needs your help !

Today we are sad to announce that our friend Bernie Torelli has been admitted in a hospital in Los-Angeles for a serious spine disease due to a cancer he was diagnosed with over two years ago. Although it is very serious at this time, there are chances that Bernie will make a full recovery, if all the necessary care is done. But the medical costs have already devastated Bernie's family financial situation, making any chance of necessary surgery nearly impossible !

We have therefore decided to help him out by raising funds by promoting and donating the receipts of Nomad Factory's best selling products :

MAGNETIC II, ECHOES and COSMOS at the no brainer cost of ONLY $19.

The Magnetics Bundle II that contains ALL three plug-ins is actually dropped at ONLY $49 !

And all other Nomad Factory products are sold at up to 70% discount until December 31.

It is needless to say that 90% of the income provided through this promotion will be directly sent to Bernie's wife for her to manage the mounting health costs but also continue to pay Nomad Factory's employees that have been continuously working on product development and customer support during Bernie's illness.

That is certainly the most important reason for Bernie to fight for his life as all of his time has loyally been devoted to his work, his employees, his friends and most of all, his family… Great new products are almost ready to launch…

BERNIE NEEDS OUR HELP AND HE NEEDS IT NOW !

Direct Donations may be adressed via Paypal at : order@nomadfactory.com
(Please fill "Raising Funds for Bernie" in the subject line)

Testimonials can be posted in this dedicated forum thread :

About Bernie Torelli - CEO and main developer at Nomad Factory

Many underestimate Bernie's career as an incredible musician, composer, sound engineer and perhaps most of all, as a very talented software developer :

Bernie Torelli, founder of Nomad Factory is an internationally recognised recording engineer, producer and composer who has worked in Paris, Montreal, and Los Angeles with legendary musicians and artists such as Stanley Clarke in Los Angeles, Michel Polnareff in France, Marie Carmen in Montreal just to name a few. Bernie was nominated for a grammy award for mixing Cab2 "Best Contemporary Jazz Instrumental Album".

In 2001, focusing on experience acquired through over 25 years of analog engineering, Bernie started developing products reminiscent of 60's and 70's technology. The Blue Tubes Bundle was born. As an engineer working at Track Star Studios in San Diego, California, Bernie quickly replaced the studio's standard plug-ins with his own. A host of top notch player's passing through could not help but notice the amazing sound quality, combined with user friendly features. After being asked over and over if these products were available on the market, in mid-2002 Nomad Factory became an official company selling plug-ins on the internet.

Licenses and Development : Bernie Torelli has developed for Spectrasonics most of the effects included in the Rack Effects section of the "Stylus RMX" and the incredible "Omnisphere". Bernie Torelli, head engineer at Nomad Factory is also the Software Product Manager at BBE Sound Inc. in charge of all BBE Sound Inc. software development, Bernie also developed three new DSP effects for Fxpansion and quite a few Plug & Mix plug-ins as well as the final P&M installers.

Bernie has worked with : Nick D' Virgilio, Jerry Goodman, Robert Lamm, Josquin des Pres, Bunny Brunel, Lenny Castro, Curt Bisquera, Reggie Hamilton, Carl Evans, David Stark, Jimmy Crespo, Gerry Brown, Kamil Rustam, Stanley Clarke, Scott Gorham, Jamie Reno, Michel Polnareff, Earl Thomas, Sunru, Mario Olivares, Tony MacAlpine, Patrice Rushen, Nicolas Peyrac, Jessica Moreno, William Sheller, Brian Auger, Karma Auger, Salvatore Adamo, Chris Pinnick, Jean-Paul Dreau, Philip Steele, Michel Fugain, Thomas Connor, Charles Elie Couture, Brianna Cara, Nicoletta, Joey Pearson, Allison Paige, Michael Greene, Oscar Aragon, Redbone, Dennis Chambers, Charley Pride, Randy Meisner, Dickey Betts, Da Vinci Vox, Jean-Jacques Chardeau, Eve Selis, Deadbolt, Marie Carmen, David Singletary, The Rockets, Steve Smith, David Maldonado, Dana Leewood, Pepper Williams, Viva Santana, and so many others…

So sorry to hear this. I pray a full recovery for Bernie -- in health and finances.

The link to Cosmos is not working and I can't find it on the Don't Crack site. I want that plug-in. I have the other two.

Absolutely incredible prices for these plug-ins. You should sell tons of them.

Is it possible the COSMOS link is broken again? I'm getting the same error as before. It was working earlier today.

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Dear friends,

We had quite a lot of serials ready to go but we sold them all ;-)

We ordered 1000 of each which I think we will sell pretty shortly as things go. So everything is back to normal now and you may go ahead with your orders.

Thank you so much for the cool words on the board. I can tell you that Bernie is very touched by such incredible feedback…

Thank you !

Thanks for the fix! I placed an order. I love Magnetic BTW, although I generally prefer V1 over V2.

Dear Friends,

Less than a week ago, we sent a mailing in order to RAISE FUNDS for our friend and partner Bernie Torelli at Nomad Factory that has unfortunately been admitted in a hospital in Los-Angeles for a serious spine disease due to a cancer he was diagnosed with over two years ago.

Well today it is with great pleasure that I am able to announce that we have already raised and sent over $60 000 to Bernie's family! But that is unfortunately still far short of the necessary funds needed to cover Bernie's growing medical costs that are quite simply RIDICULOUS !

We will therefore keep the "Raising Funds" promotion going until December 31.

Please use any of the links below to spread the good word as far and loud as you possibly can...

• Please share our "Raising Funds" post on your FACEBOOK page.
• You may also want to RT (re-tweet) our announcement on TWITTER

On behalf of Bernie and his family, I want to thank ALL of you that have spontaneously participated in our "Raising-Funds" promotion, contributing to making it so successful up until now!

We have given Bernie a reason to smile and a great big dose of hope… And that is surely the very best medicine !

I personally want to thank ALL of you for the lovely comments and the amazing user testimonials posted here at Motunation and also at KVR Audio, Gearslutz, Cakewalk and so many others.

Thank you so much !

Here is something that I posted on an other board trying to answer what I feel were legitimate thoughts :

Dear friends,

Thank you all for the sincere comments. I understand it might seem unfair to some of you that we are specifically supporting one just because he is a great artist or a talented software developer. Somehow seems awkward? Yes perhaps it does !

My dad died from a brain cancer not even one month ago and I was far from being able to provide such support to him and our family. But i'm still proud to support Bernie's cause simply because it is possible to do so.

It is great to see how a community can allover sudden become touched by a cause while it doesn't affect each individual directly. It proves that their is compassion in this world that has become totally ego centred.

I guess it is also a way to exorcise our fear of modern diseases such as cancer that affects all of us on a global scale. There is also something disturbing about the healthcare business (particularly in the USA) that somehow, makes us feel guilty and leads us to support such causes...

I like to believe that what we are all doing here is right as it ONLY implies buying cool software at reduced price while that greatly helps someone that (as weird as it may sound), is "financially" struggling for his life... No one deserves that and that might just be, the main message delivered here !

There definitely are millions of persons that are facing medical issues and won't receive such amazing support from a community but in my opinion, what we are doing here is simply a positive response to a lack of political decisions where governments prefer (or are constrained) to support industries rather than protecting their own people.

I hope this won't open a freaky political debate as my point was just to mention that I totally understand how some of you can feel uncomfortable with such things as our fund-raiser promotion...
Please let's not turn this thread into a political discussion. Let's keep it positive ok! 60k is a great start!
Absolutely ! Let's keep it cool and YES, 60k sure is an incredible start. Looks like we might reach 100k or more ;-)

The most amazing thing here in my opinion is that this fund-raiser promo got thousands of users to download and try Nomad Factory products. The overall feedback and testimonials are simply incredible like if users just discovered this week that Nomad Factory's products are great and that they greatly stand-out in front of any other major software companies...

You guys all know that we at DontCrack have been supporting Nomad Factory's products for years and it is perhaps the first time that we receive such amazing user testimonials particularly with fantastic products such as Magnetics, Echoes and the new COSMOS.

As we highly promoted these 3 products, users got to try other Nomad software such as the legendary Blue-Tubes series and many other great tube emulation plug-ins that definitely should receive better press support and more globally, better product highlights. I guess it's just that Nomad never had the marketing budget to promote their products has other companies do :-/

We have now taken full distribution of Nomad Factory products and I am pleased to say that we are in very close relation-ship with developers that are actively working on up-dating the entire Nomad product line. New versions of the powerful MAGMA are on the way and many new products will emerge from the technology invested into this great host application...

I was able to talk to Bernie last night and I want to let all of you know that he is so concerned and touched by the incredible support provided through the actual raising-funds promo. He personally asked me to manage the overall projects with the devs as he is in the hospital and hopefully back home shortly for recovery. The good news is that he will finally have surgery to his spine this week which should relief the great pain that can no longer be relieved by medicine...

I'll frequently post information about Bernie's situation and where we stand with the financial situation. I believe we can help Bernie get better AND save the company which would be a miracle ! If that happens it will be thanks to YOU and the great audio community...

Most simply, THANKS for the great support and the amazing user testimonials here on the board!

PS : Please use the links below to spread the good word as far and loud as you possibly can…
