MIDI troubles with 828MKIII

Post by yeti »

Hello and good evening!
I want to report bad miditroubles with 828MK3 and Cubase 5 (same problems in C4). Midinotes are hanging and overlapping with or without using the damperpedal. The first few bars everything is fine.... does anybody have the same problems?

all the best and thanks for reading this

Hi Yeti,

Yes the problem is known.

I live in Italiy and it is from June 2008 I own an 828 MK 3 with this issue.
I and the Italian distributors for MOTU products we collected a lot of information and test
done with the 828 MK 3 and many different host. The problem seems independent from P.C. hardware and software. Seems related to something inside the 828. Some strange criticism.
We informed constantly MOTU via TechLink or direct communication about this problem.
At the last MusicMesse in Francfurt this month the representative of Italian distributor took the documentation to the technical and commercial representative of MOTU and we are waiting an answer in next days. Many others persons signaled same problem in others forum so we hope with this large complaint a solution will be proposed.

Cheers,

Gianluca

Hi Gianluca!
Thank you for your detailed answer. It is good (or not) to hear, that I am not alone.
I also opened a Tech Link on motu.com about this very frustrating problem.
So please let us hear about the official response of Motu and thank you for your engagement in this case.
We should not accsept this failfunction and the 828 should work as advertised.
I had 2 Motu Midiinterfaces in the past and they always worked like a swizz knife.

thank you and stay tuned

I use now the last update and firmware version 1.06 and the issue is the same as in the version before.
I am a huge fan of the Audio Capacity and also Quality of the 828MK3, plan to buy a second to have seperate Interfaces for Liverecording and Studio.... but if there is no solution for this bug, I will take the 828 for Liverecording and another Brand for the Audio/MIDI I/O in my Studiosetup.

Hi all!

I wanted to report, that my motu techlink is "unread" since nearly 3 months.
This is the whorst service I ever seen from a manufacturer.
BTW there is no other contact to motu possible.
My conclusion is never ever a motu gear or software in the future

sorry

I found that a call to customer service at least gets a human answer. They'll tell you tech support is busy (they never seem to answer) but I'll bet you'll get an answer before the afternoon. Now, whether it's helpful or not is another issue.
