(Inspired by)
IS THAT ALL THERE IS?
by Peggy Lee

SPOKEN:
I remember when I was a very little girl, my manual caught on fire.
I'll never forget the look on my father's face as he gathered me up
in his arms and raced passed the burning book out to the pavement.
I stood there shivering in my pajamas and watched the whole user guide go up in flames.
And when it was all over I said to myself, "Is that all there is to help me use DP's many features?"

SUNG:
Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep asking
Let's post a new thread and ask for help
If that's all there is

SPOKEN:
And when I was 12 years old, my father took me to the NAMM, the greatest show on earth.
There were hosts and plug ins and virtual instruments
And a beautiful lady in pink tights demonstrated a new wireless monitoring system.
And as I sat there watching the marvelous spectacle
I had the feeling that something was missing.
I don't know what, but when it was over,
I said to myself, "Is that all there is to the recording industry?"

SUNG:
Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep asking
Let's ask them to send a PDF
If that's all there is

SPOKEN:
I know what you must be saying to yourselves.
If that's the way she feels about it why doesn't she just switch to Logic?
Oh, no. Not me. I'm in no hurry for that final disappointment.
For I know just as well as I'm standing here talking to you,
when that final moment comes and I'm really stuck while editing, I'll be saying to myself,

SUNG:
Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep asking
Let's post a new thread and ask for help
If that's all there is

Good one! Peggy Lee was sooo GenX. Way ahead of her time, especially with that tune.

I was gonna try Paul Simon's 50 Ways to Loose Your Manual, but don't think I could do it the justice it deserves :-)

Why not try Bluesband:s version of that infamous blues-song:

I've got twenty-nine ways, to loose my DP manual....

For the love of Earth! Why don't you people make a bloody manual available in .pdf format online? This is just excruciating.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE join the ranks of all other manufacturers and make
the manual available online!

MOTU where are you?

Dude, tell me you're joking...

MOTU should get a medal for coming up with one of the most effective yet user-friendly copy-protection schemes ever.

Im still using 2.72 (on a clanky G3 with a G4 board - i must add this to my message at the end - saves me repeating it over and over in case people think Im "up to something", and it has the balloon help system, which I understand OSX versions no longer have.

I have to say, that, manual notwithstanding (big, thick tomes plus upgrade pamplets and the rest), it's very handy to have that if you dont want to wade through pages of stuff to find something you want - interrupts the flow of work.

But would I be right in saying it was dropped, at least partly becasue of piracy as it almost (tho not quite) makes the big Performer Reference manual a handy doorstop! Shame they had to lose itif that IS the case, tho I understand the problem, as no other platform had such an excellent system of quick reference.

Like the last post BTW :D
I refer the Honourable Gentleman to the anwser I gave a moment ago...G4-upgraded G3, DP2.72, Korg 1212 card, Fostex 8-channel AD/DA converter, Korg DW8000, Novation Basstation, Kork M1rEX, Vintage Keys Plus, Akai S2000, Transcendent 2000 monosynth, Presonus ACP8 8-channel comp/gate, Behringer Multicom, Zoom and Yamaha external FX and a few other bits and pieces!

If you tack the serialnumber onto the inside cover of the manual, it's a proof
of legal purchase, in effect.
