I got the interface open to take a look, but with my limited knowledge, I did not see anything out of the ordinary.

Here's a top-down photo, let me know if any of you are familiar with the layout of the PCB and want better photos of a specific part:

Based on this thread, I am also starting to suspect that the Motu itself doesn't supply sufficient power to the microphone: https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?t=106014
