Best Mac OS ID3 Tagger?
Can anyone recommend a simple, solid ID3 Tagger for Msc OS?
I'd like to be able to tag the audio files I send out without having to bring them in to iTunes to do it.
Thanks.

Lots of freeware, shareware, cheapware and commercialware can do this.Rick Cornish wrote:Can anyone recommend a simple, solid ID3 Tagger for Msc OS?

Toast 15, Twistedwave, DSP-Quattro come to mind... TwistedWave has great batch processing capabilities and DSP-Q is no slouch.
Then there's this

WaveLab, of course.
Any mastering app should do this. I've not checked Ozone.
I can't tell if Logic does it on its own or does so in conjunction with iTunes.

Re: Best Mac OS ID3 Tagger?
DSP-Quattro has a tag editor?! (I can't find it). Good batch processor though.
I tried to find a freeware tag editor but could not find one that works. I use Fission for one at a time files, but need a good batch tag editor.
I've ended up having to use iTunes, which works pretty well-- I set it to make sure never to add to my library.

These 5 are supposed to be good and free for Sierra. May duplicate some in the link to 7 I posted earlier.

Re: Best Mac OS ID3 Tagger?
Thanks, Mike. I had found the previous article you suggested, but was a little skeptical, since it was written by one of the developers. I have all the other audio recording/management tasks covered, so I'm looking for a simple ID3 editor only. Kid3 has popped up in multiple articles, so I'll try that one first.mikehalloran wrote:These 5 are supposed to be good and free for Sierra. May duplicate some in the link to 7 I posted earlier.

Re: Best Mac OS ID3 Tagger?
UPDATE
Tried Kid3---It works (and it's free), but the UI ain't my thang.
After more digging, I found The Tagger, which costs £18, but has a full-function 14-day trial. It is pretty much just like editing tags in iTunes with more robust options. That's the one I'm going with.
https://deadbeatsw.com/thetagger/
BTW: For un-installing unwanted apps, I highly recommend AppCleaner (free at https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/25276/appcleaner.... NOT the one on the Apple App Store), which does the job in seconds, searching out all associated (and often hard-to-find) files, components, extensions, etc. and deletes them all in one click.

Re: Best Mac OS ID3 Tagger?
Tagger looks good. The price is fine.
The first function I want to test is being able to generate filenames from tags & vice-versa. That'll be very handy for batches.

After a few weeks of working with it, this is the one I'd recommend to anyone who wants a clean, simple interface, full functionality, and doesn't mind paying around $28.00US.

Re: Best Mac OS ID3 Tagger?
As often as I use MP3 tagging operations, $28 USD is not a deal breaker. I do wish it was less, but in terms of time savings, I'm in.
It says something that I'd rather pay that much money than deal with iTunes. But the ability to copy file names to the Title tag is the main thing I often need. Tagger's way of automating pulling segments of a file name into the tags is useful.

BWF MetaEdit.app is also a great tool for granular editing all the BWF associated meta-data.
