Re: Motu Ultralite Question

Could be a couple things, but first guess is that you're not listening through a DAW? If you simply have the UltraLite plugged into a PC but aren't running an audio app that's configured to use it, you won't hear anything unless you unmute audio channels in CueMix FX. I have to do this, for example,...

Re: MIDI Express XT sysex issue

Thanks for saving me some money, guys. I was JUST about to order a MIDI Express XT to replace my micro lite, since the micro lite sometimes locks up when my PC reboots.

But I use SysEx all the time, so this will be a definite no-go for me.

But like everyone else- what else is there?

Re: Attn: Chris and/or MOTU - please fix BSOD in driver

Hi and thank you! At least is good to know this is common and im not the only one, and maybe my choice of Hardware is ok, and its only a driver issue! Although after the BSOD and system reboot, i dont notice any performance diference. System starts up fast, Nuendo starts fast and i can listen to a ...

Re: Attn: Chris and/or MOTU - please fix BSOD in driver

Every time i cold start the PC i get that BSOD. Does anyone have news about this issue??? All drivers, updates etc are the latest! bios, motu driver, win8 updates, nuendo version etc etc Unfortunately, according to MOTU, their products currently support Windows 8 , so I don't expect much investigat...

Re: Windows 8 DAWBench results for UltraLite-mk3 and PCIe-42

Thanks for the update. I gave Windows 8 a try early on with Sonar X1 and X2. One thing I noticed was if I opened the PCI Console (running 2408 Mk2 & 24I/O), the hard drive would start to chatter with activity which took several minutes to stop. I never ran any diagnostics, but something was cau...

Re: Windows 8 DAWBench results for UltraLite-mk3 and PCIe-42

Hi. I literally haven't booted into Windows 8 on my DAW system since I made my last post in this thread. I am indeed waiting for some new MOTU drivers (which reminds me, I need to add MOTU's RSS feed to my reader), and I will test them out of curiosity. I have been developing professionally for Wind...

Re: 828Mk3 USB on Windows 8

I've used the UltraLite-mk3 (firewire-only) and PCIe-424/24I/O on Windows 8, and DAW benchmark performance results for those interfaces were 21-42% worse on Windows 8 than Windows 7 (versus two non-MOTU interfaces I tested, which performed a fair amount better than the MOTUs- but not better than the...

Re: Ultralite mk3 non-hybrid several issues

when i start ableton and set the device as output it works. except the phone out has absolutely no sound, although it is set phones assign -> phones 1 -2. I tried to reinstall the drivers several times but that didnt help. Neither did setting the ultralite mk3 back to factory settings. Yet i couldn...

Re: 24io no longer working. PC at fault or 24io hardware?

I'm betting you're looking at a hardware defect of some kind. I've only had mine a few weeks, but never once have I seen the issues you're describing. It always shows up and just plain works. (And I've been through many power cycles and warm boots in that time.) I'm about to re-route my home studio ...

Re: MOTU PCI-424 Windows 8 Pro x64 BSOD

Same issue here, with the PCIe version. Cold boot of Win 8 crashes, but eventually loads after automatic reboot. I installed WinDbg and opened the crash dump, and interestingly, it says the crash is in Ntoskrnl.exe (the core of the Windows OS), but the problem didn't start until I installed the PCIe...

Re: Windows 8 DAWBench results for UltraLite-mk3 and PCIe-42

So, Vin (DAWBench) did do some testing with an RME PCIe card, and also did SONAR vs. Cubase testing on both OSes. His findings are here . His PCIe card performed more or less the same between Win 7 and Win 8. He also found that Cubase and SONAR performed the same between the two operating systems. S...

Re: Windows 8 DAWBench results for UltraLite-mk3 and PCIe-42

I forgot to mention in my previous benchmark post that as before, all tests were performed at 256 samples, with 44.1kHz sample rate, at 32-bits. I recorded both the reported and measured latency of each interface on both operating systems. The reported numbers (as shown in the Cubase interface panel...

Re: Windows 8 DAWBench results for UltraLite-mk3 and PCIe-42

(Second round, which I did over last weekend.) The Windows 7 vs. Windows 8 DAW benchmarks I did a week ago left me with more questions than answers. There was an obvious performance gap between the two operating systems in my tests, but none of my data gave me any hints as to why. In order to gain ...

Re: Windows 8 DAWBench results for UltraLite-mk3 and PCIe-42

(First round- did these tests 2 1/2 weeks ago.) Before I replaced a couple 512GB hard drives on my DAW system with bigger ones, I thought it would be interesting to see how well Cubase would run on my system with Windows 8. I imaged my existing system onto the new drives via eSata, but before swapp...

Windows 8 DAWBench results for UltraLite-mk3 and PCIe-424

I've posted this information on a couple other forums, but I've seen a lot of mention of Windows 8 here, and thought some folks might find my test results interesting. The following two posts represent two separate rounds of tests I did. The first round was just with a pre-hybrid UltraLite, and the ...
