Re: First Mac Studios hit the Refurb Store
Yep, I saw it. You beat me to it. Haha. Such a deal!! :) At 1800 I dont feel so bad about the mac mini m1 I got for 1200 or so on ebay with 2TB, 16GB and AppleCare till 2023. 16 maybe not be much for you heavy hitters but it works for me. And I'm managing with a hub for the exra ports, so I guess it...

Re: Time Machine reminder?
Just wanted to say Mike, you're always there with a wealth of knowledge.
Even if I generally dont have a clue what you're talking about, or half of it anyway, I want to thank you for always being here to help out. It's much appreciated.

Re: Time Machine reminder?
iOS, iPadOS will remind you. If you’ve left your device off for awhile or you have cell data turned of and haven’t been near Wi-Fi for long enough, you’ll get this. I see it every time I turn on my iPod Touch 7 every few months. Time Machine has worked entirely in the background for many builds of ...

Time Machine reminder?
Maybe I'm making this up, but I seem to remember that Time Machine used to remind me when I hadnt made a back up for, I think it was, 10 days. Kind of a useful thing. There's no preference or setting for it, as far as I can see.

Re: My new Mac Studio Ultra setup
Hi Michel
Well, you may not be "from the industry", but you certainly are a power user. That is a totally pro setup, much more elaborate than mine and I do do it for a living. Well, ok, used to, Haha.
What instruments are you using?

Refurb Mac Studio
Not that I'm in the market, having bought an M1 mini about a week before they came out, but I wonder when Mac Studios will begin to show up in the refurb department.
I kind of compulsively check, for no particular reason, and there havent been any yet.

Re: Logic VS DP in the new mac studio?
I'm using DP 11 on a mac mini M1, which is the same chip as in the Studio (isnt it?) and aside from a couple of quit at startup issues (which have gone away for now, and I have no idea what caused them) it runs without any problems, so based on my experience, DP is perfectly compatible. Might Logic ...

Re: Servicing a U87. Any point?
If you prefer to pre-authorise a repair, please indicate the maximum charge you would pay in the comments section of the checkout. I'll say this... and it's just the skeptic in me... LOL... but I'd never tell them the most I was willing to pay up front. Maybe I'm a cynic, but I'd bet 9 times out of...

Re: Servicing a U87. Any point?
I was in touch with Sennheiser late last year Mike. Didnt seem like they expected it to cost anywhere near 50% of purchase price. They say this: You must send the product to us to assess the work required and calculate the repair cost. If the repair cost is below 100 €/£/$ we will not provide an est...

Servicing a U87. Any point?
Hi Guys, Is there any point in sending my (apparently pre '86) U87 to Neumann for a "tune up", so to speak? It's filthy on the outside, so one can only begin to imagine how much spittle, phlegm and general grime....ewww!... has accumulated on the inside as well. Someone suggested it once. ...

Re: Analyze soundbite tempo issue
I'l try that, bk.
And while we're about it, isnt there a way to time compress several soundbites at once? I spent time to make them all the same length, thinking I would be able to shift click them all, and do them all at the same time. Not so, it seems.

Re: Analyze soundbite tempo issue
Yes Bays, I ended up time compressing them one by one, which I knew that was an option but I had hoped to find a better way. I made each soundbite the length of the sequence which made things easier, but what a pain! Nothing worked. None of the seemingly pertinent commands under Audio>Soundbite Temp...

Re: Analyze soundbite tempo issue
Thank you Bays, for that very detailed reply. Simply put, I have a sequence with MIDI and audio. I need to up the tempo and I want to have the soundbites change tempo (time compression, in other words) along with the MIDI.There's a lot to digest in your post but I will unpack it in due course. Also,...

Re: Analyze soundbite tempo issue
Analysing soundbites for tempo requires some transients that the analysis can use to interpret as useful points in time. So a long cello note with a long attack, for example, would tell it nothing. You can use the Waveform editor to manually enter beats etc so there is something that can be used to...
