Re: MIDI, VIs, Latency and Apogee (non MOTU hardware)
A buffer of 128 in DP is pretty manageable. Be sure you're not monitoring the VI through a processor plug that adds extra latency. (Ozone is notorious for this, and has caught me out a number of times when I've forgotten it was on a master buss.)

Re: cannot drag and drop soundbites into tracks window
Also, make sure you're not trying to drag a stereo file into a mono track, or vice versa. I do that all the time.

Re: DO doesn’t do MIDI plug in automation????
I know it's a PITA, but a workaround would be to duplicate the track in question, having one copy quantized and one not, and simply deleting the notes you want unquantized from the quantized track, and vice-versa the unquantized track.
Did that make sense?

Re: DP8 won't open with Apogee Duet??
I've found that DP doesn't like audio hardware doing things in the background like resetting sample rate, etc. because of this, I always make sure that my interface is set to whatever the project rate is BEFORE I launch dp, else I end up in a loop of getting that error box which eventually results i...

Re: Your opinion on Control Surface/Mixer/Next Purchase
I haven't actually tried it. I keep waiting for one of my monitors to croak so as to have the excuse. Why would it be a big gamble? Are you running something that only has one video out?

Re: Your opinion on Control Surface/Mixer/Next Purchase
An option I've been contemplating is getting one of those Dell multi-touch monitors which would, ostensibly, let me treat the DP mixer as a "control surface." they were on sale before Xmas for a couple hundred bux. I currently run a 2-monitor setup, and would ditch my older crappy flatscre...

Re: What reverbs do you like to use with DP?
I love the 2c audio verbs. Especially B2, though it can be VERY processor intensive. Aether is also good. I've never heard breeze. I think they're all on sale until the 1st of Jan, so if you grab a demo and love one or more, you can get 'em at a discount!

Re: DP 8.05
Thanks guys, but I really wasn't looking for help as much as just venting. 8.04 didn't crash at all on the same sequences. Nothing else in my config changed between the two versions. However, just for the sake of explanation, the two crashes I kept getting most consistently yesterday were when I wou...

Re: DP 8.05
Uh, welp, I installed 8.05 and proceeded to have a terrible and crashy day, although things seemed to draw faster on the screen. Now, how do I go back to 8.04?

HA ha ha! This happens to me EVERY TIME I make a new project. It's the default command to switch to some chunk. EVERY TIME. Just go to commands and delete it.

Re: Korg Legacy 64 bit is here!
Well, I upgraded my KLC WS, then opened a tune that used WS, and DP8 said WS was missing. (In the missing VI dialog box.) After the tune loaded, I checked and, yes, there was the WS in the VI list, but for some reason DP is not making the connection that VI versions are the same instrument. I've nev...

Re: Best practice: Real-time vs. Pre-Gen?
When you say that VI's have to be run in real-time or they won't sound unless the plug-in is "open, do you mean that sinmply closing the window will silence the instrument? (I almost always keep all the VI windows open and stacked on a second monitor, so I haven't run across this.) I mean that...

Re: Best practice: Real-time vs. Pre-Gen?
This is pretty straightforward, really. Pre-gen saves processor load, this much we know. For most effects, pre-gen is the way to go. For instruments, if you use pre-gen and you're mucking about with MIDI tracks, the notes won't sound unless you have the instrument open. (This drove me crazy in DP6 u...

Re: Tracking drop-ins and compositing
I think if you have multi-record enabled, new take does create a new take for all of them. I could be wrong. But I don't really see how that helps you in your situation. I don't think it can be done exactly as you want it to, but I can think of a number of possible solutions for your problem. Here's...
