Thanks erik,
It's not automation, I'm just recording the MIDI data, CC#1 and CC#7 on the record enabled MIDI track with the UC-33e.

My attempt at being hip and cool with some contemporary sounds.
Oh, and I talk a bit about the VSL SE and reprogramming the samples.

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
Hmm... I wonder, can you use Time Shift to shift the MIDI track a set "time" amount, instead of a "tick" amount? Cause then it wouldn't matter what the tempo is or if there were accel or rit... I've never heard of Time Shift, i've neve actually used a plugin on a MIDI channel bef...

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
Yeah, DP's buffer. I have mine set to 512. And that's on a Mac Pro 8-core. Yeah, I think finding the amount of ticks to shift based on your buffer would be something that's good to know... I've just been doing it by ear. Basically, if it's something like a snare part, I'll play it in, then quantize....

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
Hi James, Yes, any plugins that are in Bidule are subject to latency based on the buffer settings. Plugins in the V-rack in DP, as we know, has that automatic plugin latency compensation. Personally, since I do mostly orchestral stuff, I don't need to be ultra exact, and usually just play a bit befo...

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
BTW, there's a very simple video on very basic setup that I found helpful. Sometimes it's the simplist things that can escape us (well... me). http://www.alexpfeffer.net/?p=430 Great, yes, Alex is a good friend of mine. Very much on top of the latest technology. (BTW, Mike, Talk to Sternklar lately...

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
1. Standard 2. Standard Extended 3. Plus 4. Plus Extended Like, Mike, I'm just buying them for the legatos. Should the SE Standard package be sufficient, or should i get the Standard Extended as well? Hi Erik, I just have 1. Standard. Not even the standard extended. All I wanted was the Legato and ...

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
1.Which VSL libraries are you using? Those woodwinds sound spectacular. 2. In EWQLSO (or any other library, for that matter) do you use the keyswitch MASTER patches (loading all articulations) or keyswitch ELEMENT patches (loading just one patch at a time)? If you DO indeed use the master keyswitch...

Re: How are you using Bidule?
How do you back up your saved Bidule templates. I can't seem to find them on my hard drive. Even after a search. I've got about 20 hours into building my orchestral template and I want to back up! Also, guys. Two words: Time Machine Have Time Machine back up your System Drive, and your Projects Dri...

Re: How are you using Bidule?
Only have an answer to your DFD question. Here's my Kontakt DFD settings, and they're working well. Don't ask me what any of these numbers mean or do.. I just changed values randomly until it loaded lots of stuff.

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
I'm interested in people's views whether the orchestral stuff should be separated into long and short, as Mike has done, or as I have often been recommended to do, high and low stems. When I've had a real (!) mixing engineer mix my stuff he generally separates his buses into high and low orchestral...

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP and Bidule
In Bidule... right click somewhere... select "MIDI devices" > "input" > "bidule 1, 2, 3 etc"
Use THAT as your MIDI port. Be sure you have the correct MIDI output set on your MIDI track.
