MIDI control of plug-in parameters?

Okay, maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but I haven't been able to figure this out. Is there a way to control parameters of effects using MIDI controllers? For instance, I'd like to sweep the frequency of an eq using the modwheel of my keyboard. Is there a way to do this?

One doesn't come to mind. That is an interesting concept, for which I've looked for a solution many times, and haven't found one that fits all variables. It looks like MOTU could come up with a "wildcard value" that could be inserted into any field, then defined and controlled from any controller.

yeah, like reason or ableton live do, where you can basically assign any function to any MIDI controller. That would probalby be my number one desire about DP.

Right now, you can play notes on your main keyboards and controlling the frequency, cause as soon you have a multifilter open for instance, there is a MIDI track assign, that you can get from MIDI menu. Besides that, i really don t know.
