When you say "newest update on OSX" do you mean latest OSX, or latest MachFive? This (lack of preset names showing up) was a known issue with beta versions of MachFive which was fixed a while back. Unless you're talking about something else?

I dont think im running a beta...

have you pulled out fonts from your operating system..? its either 1 of 2 things graphics card issue or a font problem...

I have also had this issue with Mach 5 after upgrading to Tiger 10.4.3 and
Mach 5 v1.2.3 with DP 4.61; no names in the preset window or anywhere in M5.

it's a known issue - i had the same problem when upgrading to tiger a few weeks back.

contacted distributor. they told me to download an earlier version of mach5 - install that, then install the updates. somewhere along the line there is the font in one of the install packages.

i did it, it works fine now...

Do you know what font and where it should reside? I don't have the problem but would love to be prepared.... TIA.

Apparently this was (is?) a common issue. This is from Josh Hetrick at motu tech support:
-Quit all applications.
-Go to /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components, and trash "MachFive AU.component.
-Go to /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/MAS, and trash "MachFive MAS.bundle.
-Now run the latest MachFive 1.2.3 installer from our website.

Fixed the problem.

In the process of backing up my system to prepare for an cpu upgrade, and later, Tiger, I skipped installing M5 from my disk and just used the installer (1.2.3) from the web. The only reason to use the M5 disk was to install the demo tune. No problems!!!

Hope this helps.

Holy Crap! You guys rock and you ROCK HARD! I was freaking out since I (stupidly) decided to upgrade (another post got me wondering why my streaming wasn't working in MAS) during production on a project. Imagine my surprise when I open up MachFive and I can't see the names of any of my sounds!!!

Anyway, the above solution works. Geez, you'd think this would be in the MachFive Tech Notes on MOTU's site!

THANK YOU EVERYBODY!!! :D
