mouse freeze when waking computer from sleep

I am having a very consistant problem. My mouse freezes when I wake up the computer from sleep. If I turn off all the energy saver stuff and screen saver stuff it does not happen. I think I further isolated the problem to the Energy Saver. Is there a fix besides just not using energy saver and sleep?
