Try

most are rack spacers with "creative" faces.

I hope you're joking since the funklogic stuff mostly makes no sound on its own. They're just face plates/rack spacers mostly.
So your friend doesn't like the DP plugs? Maybe your friend just prefers another DAW and it's plugs. Cool- just remember that some people with Lambos say that Ferraris suck. (and vice versa)

I think Funk Logic is absolutely the highest quality developer and manufacturer in its genre. You have to admit, anyone who can develop a product like the Palindrometer may have at one time been in the presence of pure genius. Or at least, they may have read about it.
I used to have an engineer friend who had a large red knob on his console. I asked what it was connected to, and he said, "nothing." But he explained that it had shut up some of the worst clients--you know the kind: "it's too... too... quiet, but it shouldn't be louder, but fuller. And it needs more definition without adding sharpness. It lacks the quality of synchronicity..." etc. After losing a half hour or so to trying to please such people, he would reach for the red knob, which actually had a light in it, and turn on the light switch. He would then have them adjust it until it had the quality they were seeking. "Here... put one hand on this ultra-compressor knob, and the other hand on the Master Fader, and you just adjust them until it has the sound you're looking for."
Imagine what he could do with some Funk Logic gear. Then even the pickiest client could have a field day, and get the exact sound he/she was seeking.

Actually, the hardwood rack spacers are pretty nice....though not as cool as the fake gear spacers.
