DP 4.61 and GPO

Hi all,
Even though I have used DP4.5 and 4.6 with Garritan Personal Orchestra (GPO) on my G4 with 10.3.8 with no problems, I CANNOT get the new versions of DP (4.61) and GPO (installed latest update today) to work properly on my G5 with Tiger (10.4.3). The GPO instrument will NOT appear on my instrument list. The Kontakt player IS registered AND authorized. I have deleted the Audio Unit Info Cache file and re-started DP a number of times. I have done everything I did to get it working properly on my G4 with Panther, but GPO still does not show up in the MIDI instrument list. What am I forgetting? Is there something with these new versions I am missing? Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks in advance,
Brad

I'm having the same problem. I tried the same things you did but they didn't work. I'm using the stripped down Finale GPO, but it probably doesn't matter. Let me know if you find a solution...

Anybody else having this issue? I've not installed 4.61 and now I'm hesitant. It would be nice to hear from someone who isn't having a problem with this...

I have sort of gotten it working using the tutorial on the GPO website. It is at http://www.garritan.com/DP_GPO_tut.html. It is kind of clunky compared to how it worked under DP4.5. Under DP4.5 and Panther I could simply click on the MIDI output column for the track and GPO would show up with my other MIDI instruments. Then I could click on the Patch column and select a GPO patch. I would never bring up the GPO interface, I could do everything directly in DP. Now the only way it works is by using the method in the tutorial cited above which requires the GPO interface to be open, and you still don't see the patch list in DP. I am continuing to experiment.

By the way, DP 4.61 will not see the patch list in my Triton Rack now either. Under 4.5x, DP would let me select Triton Rack as my MIDI instrument, and then in the Patch column, it would show all of the patch banks and their individual patches. I could then select the patch I wanted and DP would send the patch change data to the Triton Rack. Now with 4.61, it sees the Triton Rack, but none of the patch banks or patch names. This is becoming a drag. Again, have I forgotten something?
Thanks all,
Brad

The link to the tutorial in the GPO website in my previous post did not work when I tested it. You may have to navigate to it. Sorry.

You just accidentally added an extra "." to the link. Anyway, I guess I didn't realize you could load it any other way. I load all my instruments by selecting them from the new track, instrument, list or in the mixer window on an instrument track, and basically the procedure in that tutorial. I guess I won't exactly be missing anything as I never did it any other way. I hope it works again though, as it sounds like your way would be easier.

The method in the tutorial is the only way I've ever done it and now it doesn't work. It does allow me to add a GPO instrument, but I never see the GPO interface. I can't load samples, period.

Brad's other method probably worked because he had GPO set up through interapplication MIDI or something similar.

I forgot to mention that since I only have the Finale GPO player and not the full GPO, the tutorial method is my only option, so I'm stuck.

Mythicwave-

It may not be as bad as you think. I just did the update and I was able to load FINALE GPO (I don't have the full version either). It worked fine. And yes, using the tutorial method, as I've always done.

GPO works in 4.61 and OSX 4.2, but NOT with Built-In Audio selected in Hardware Configuration, only with the M-Audio (FW410). Same symptoms you show (no Kontact player to select programs.) If I toggle back and forth between Built-In Audio and FireWaire audio, the Kontact Player pops in and out accordingly.

So it appearrs to be related to something "in there" (Hardware Configuration.) Cannot try it OSX 4.3 as the MAudio drivers need updating first.

Hope that helps a bit. Maybe you might futz with the hardware setup if you have output options other than built-in.

Thanks for the info. But I'm getting the opposite result (with OS X 10.4.3). The only time the GPO interface shows for me is when I have Built In Audio selected. If I switch back to my default hardware device - the MOTU PCI-324, it disappears. It still sounds like a bug to me.

A clue?

I don't think it is related to 10.4.3. I just found something...

With any hardware device selected for output, GPO won't show it's interface until the track that it is assigned to has valid outputs. Here is what I tried:

1) Selected PCI-324 as my output device.
2) Added a stereo instrument with the Finale GPO player. The GPO interface didn't show when double-clicking the track name since the track output was set to built-in audio.
3) Changed the track output to PCI-324.
4) Double-clicked the track name and the GPO window showed.
5) Changed the hardware device back to built in audio. GPO window disappeared. Double-clicking the track name just brings up the DP instrument window without the GPO interface.
6) Changed the track output back to built-in audio. GPO interface appeared.

It looks like the GPO interface is always there, but is not visible unless the track it is assigned to has valid audio outputs.

Thanks Brian, I am having similar results. I think I have to get used to using the thing the way it was designed to be used. Whatever I did before, I can't seem to reproduce, but this works fine. BTW, I am using a Tascam FW-1082 as my audio and MIDI interface. It is also a cool control surface for DP. In any case, my results are much the same as yours. Thanks for your help.

This isn't just a GPO thing. I'm pretty sure none of my AU's show up unless there is a valid output.
