signal path routing help

Post by orange »

Hi,

Apologies for a quazi newbie question but I'm wondering if anyone there can give me a step by step check list on how to get audio happening on this partcular situation. You see, I had a death in our family in July so I went for several months not touching any of my gear. And now I can't find crucial notes I'd made on how to do this process (it does work somehow!). I'm sure it is something super obvious but I'm just not seeing it and would like to just get on with recording.

First, detail on my basic set up:
-- Dual 2.5 processor G5 with 4.5 GB Ram.
-- Motu 828 mk II
-- Dan Alexander Audio mic pre
-- Korg M1 (for MIDI control)
-- Running DP 4.5 (latest update incarnation)
-- Oz Audio Headphone amp
-- PLUG INS: Motu Symphonic Instrument, Amplitube, Trilogy, Stylus RMX, Bosendorfer, etc.
-- MICS: AKG 414, Shure SM57/58, Rode NT1

THE PROBLEM: So, I'm to the point where I'm ready to record some live vocals and guitar and I'm stumped on getting the audio into the computer! I AM getting audio coming from the Mic, into the PreAmp and into the MOTU 828 (on input channel 3, and also into 4 if needed for stereo) and it is even showing up in the Firewire CueMix.

But I'm stumped on how i was supposed to set up the channel patches to get the audio into DP and so that I can monitor the sound thru the Oz Audio amp. I have Outputs from channels 5 and 6 on the Motu828 going into the main inputs for the Oz Audio Headphone amp.

So, what do I need to set on the CueMix screen and on the given audio channel in DP in order to get be able to monitor what I'm laying down and also see audio getting recorded into DP???

I know it can work since someone at Motu helped me figure this out when I first got the new gear and I••™d tested it all. So I know it works. I••™m just missing a step or two and can••™t ••œsee••

Hit Shift-U and set your inputs and outputs

Sounds like you have not assigned I/O into Digital Performer.

Also for monitoring make sure the little headphone icon is lit in the window (tracks or sequence)

THANKS!!! I now remember something about the Headphone icon. I'll let you know if that works when I fire things up a little later.

:D
