new 4.6 user, actually new to DP altogether. Diggin it!

I'm working on a new album with 12 tunes, each their own project, and one of them is acting funny. When I hit play it takes a full 10 to 12 seconds before it actually starts playing. The trouble started after I added a few tracks which I turned into loops by doing about 20 copy-pastes in order to string them together. Could this be the problem? When I do Delete Track on these three tracks it does not change the problem (maybe they don't really get deleted because it can be undone?)

All tracks are audio tracks.

A few things to do that should speed things up a bit:

1. Flush all undo entries.
2. Merge all soundbites, making all of them contiguous.
3. Clear out any unused soundbites in the soundbite window.
4. Close the soundbite window (if it's open).

See if that helps. The manual will walk you through undo flushing and soundbite merging, should you not know how.

Good luck.

That is funny, and has happened to me, but chrispick's suggestions are also right on.

I recently was given a project recorded elsewhere where each and every percussion hit had been sliced to improve the percussionist's accuracy, I presume.

There must have been 500-600 individual hits.

I noticed a very definite lag in DP's performance so after consulting with the client (who was right by me) to verify that the percussion "fixes" were final and to his liking, we merged each percussion track then deleted all of the unused soundbites. (I did do a safety backup prior, in case he changed his mind)

Instantly, DP was back to it's reasonably speedy self!
