UVI Workstation VST Fail in DP11

Searched for an answer in past threads, but keep getting ‘too common a word’ response from MOTUNation board. So…
I’ve had to install UVI Workstation VST so as to be able to read my so-called ‘old’ Mach5 sound libraries.
In DP11, ‘UVI Instruments’ does not appear in the
Project>Add track>Instrument track menu.
After installing UVI Workstation, I go to
DP11>Preferences>General>Audio Plug-ins and see that UVIWorkstationVSY has ‘failed’ for both VST 2 and VST 3.
Why is UVI failing DP11’s plugin test?
Would be grateful for any tips on how to fix this.

I'm guessing that you have not downloaded the latest version of the MachFive 3 libraries, Go into your MOT'U User Account/Product Registrations/MachFive 3. Slick on VIEW DETAILS and scroll down.
Note that these were updated in 2022. The current UVI Workstation will work with these. See the screen shot below.
The synth functions of MachFive are gone, of course. To get that back, you will need Falcon from UVI. They have offered MV3 users a special upgrade price in the past but you have to email UVI for a link to purchase at that price—no idea if it's still good but many of us have taken advantage of this. These new versions of the libraries also open in Falcon, of course.

On its own, the UVI plugin started working of its own accord after re-installing the same (version of) the software.
Strange.

I think it is because you called it a VST. That's the Steinberg trademark for a Virtual Instrument or VI; it was probably upset.

Yesterday, after updating all my UVI plugs, Falcon and UVI Player fail to load, reporting that no license exists. iLok shows all licenses as active and MachFive loads all programs without a problem. I guess I'll try reinstalling Falcon and UVI player. And yes, I did all the housekeeping (deactivate/reactivate, synchronize, etc.). RPITA!

Update: Solved for me (9in a manner of speaking). I didn't solve the problem, but using TimeMachine to go back to the previous versions of Falcon and UVI player, everything works just fine. Conclusion: the lates version of those plugins are not compatible with my system, (10.14.6 and staying here). Back to work writing a magic show for The Magic Castle (Hollywood). I guess I'm officially a falconer now.

I had hoped to stay on 10.14, but after too many similar experiences, I went to macOS 12. It has a few minor annoyances, but is bearable.

I'm still fighting the "subscription model" and still use old versions of Quicken, Word, Adobe, etc. My mian work is all just fine in 10.14.6. My wife's Mac is current and when I go to help her with something, I feel like I'm on a PC in 1987. I just don't understand the choices Apple has made in the OS. Then again, I still use music paper, so maybe I'm just old. lol MAYBE!

I agree. Current macOS versions remind me why I abandoned Windows so long ago. But I have abandoned paper too.

One of my 2012 MBPs is still on 10.14 Mojave. Part of this is because I did a lot of work in Encore a lifetime ago and I need to access the files now and then. The other reason is Adobe and I’ll leave it at that.
A couple months ago, I dumped a cup of coffee into it. I was going to pull the SSD and place it into another 2012 that I have till I remembered that I have one of these low cost insurance policies protecting my aging home appliances. Turns out that MBP is covered — a $99 copay and a couple weeks later, the motherboard, screen and battery were replaced.

You thought that out better than I did. I did the same thing to my 2011 MBP. I can still remember the coffee squelching out of the ports. I bought a M2 Air — it never occurred to me to check my house insurance.

UVI has offered to do a live session, taking control of my machine remotely from Paris to try and assess and fix the problem.
No thank you!
