Do the developers read this? If so... please give us independent pan control on stereo tracks. PLEASE.

They might but not necessarily. You can go to the MOTU site and suggest it. In the meantime, you can probably do what you need using the Trim plugin.

IMO it's probably too late for a wishlist, DP11 will be 3 1/2 years old on January 6th. That's the longest time between versions since DP4. I suppose it could come out in an update later.

Looking forward to an update but that’s the only thing I wish it had haha

I wonder if MOTU has more than 1 developer even thinking about DP. IMO they are in maintenance mode to keep it up with Apple changes - nothing more.

Sad state of affairs, but this entire technology space seems to be in a lull. Not just MOTU.

Most DAW teams seem to be pretty small. Reaper is mostly maintained by two people.
The same main developer seems to still be there for the last 37 years. Looks to be about 3-4 software developers at MOTU, plus a software driver person.

I don't think they slept at all with 11, and looking at the extras we got after initial release especially,

Personal wishlist, or at this point hoped that they already added to 12 since I would bet it's in beta:

UX improvements. -

Clippings shouldn't lose outputs, you should be able to save multi out VI's without having to save the Bundle so your VI outs don't disappear.

Bundles should be a drop down menu for preferences.

In fact all the settings for DP should be able to be packaged into a preset preference file, so track colors, Bundles, DP plugin custom presets, key binding etc. all rolled into one file you can save in ten places.

In other DAWs when you instantiate a multi out VI you get a dialog on whether you want outputs assigned to that VI, this is a huge timesaver.

In the Plugin Preferences you should be able to sort columns by Passed, Failed, and Unexamined.

In the Plugin Chooser if you type in the search field when you're not in All, if should not lose that typed in search when you switch to All.

The Drum Editor should have the ability to name notes, and the setup for a drum VI should be savable as a preset. (some DAWs catch the names of drum VI's)

Clips should work with the Drum Editor, Event List and Score.

You should be able to adjust the length of a looped Clip in the Tracks window.

Markers could use some love, It's great to be able to select everything with a marker, but it doesn't also select the marker, I want to have them tied to the data.

If the Conductor Track is showing in the Tracks Window, after clicking the Marker, click on the track name (Conductor in Track Name in Tracks Overview Window) and it and the Marker will be added to the selection.

Yep, that's the workaround, but I think it should work the other way, it should be harder to de select the marker. :koolaid:

Add naming for notes in any MIDI edit view would be useful and make it practical to stop using the Drum editor altogether unless it gets a lot of attention and updates.

I find it useful for velocity automation on drum rolls etc. It's definitely an area of DP that needs work. My hope is they skipped being able to edit Clips in the Drum Editor because they plan on updating it.

I mean 12 is right around the corner, I sort of expect them to release it in January since it's been 3 1/2 years then, and they used to at least announce release candidate betas at NAMM.

Predictably, I'm gonna say this:

More VI's... including a bread-and-butter one that can replace your typical ROMplers.

I suspect you are correct. I regret my flippant response.

My wish list:

1. Improvements and expansion of the core system's virtual instruments.
2. Quickscribe enhancements - percussion clef option, better support of quintuplets, septuplets, grace note entry and options for articulation, and option to change enharmonic accidentals.
3. Composition tools - pitch matrix setup and management, ability to apply pitch matrix via Region editing, generative AI features based on MIDI content (create counterpoint and generate parts in various styles).
4. Audio - AI features for mastering, mixing, and soundbite editing. Automation of audio quantization as well as optimized quality of the results. Better core plugins for noise reduction. Option to normalize a batch of soundbites.
5. Spend more time in the user manual to better utilize the features that already exist!
