Hi all,

I finally got around to buying a MIDI Router - Conductive Labs MRCC. It is really good so far in stand-along mode, but I'm confused as how to incorporate it within DP properly.

Does anyone here have this router perhaps ?

Hey Darren, I do have the MRCC. It is so important to my rig, I'm thinking about getting a second one as a spare.

The MRCC is really complex and as much as I hate to say this, go ahead and read the manual. It's actually put together really well, and those guys have made it as fun as it can be.

The way I run it, it is a hybrid of physical MIDI (for hardware) and USB. I have a single Roland controller going in that controls around 20 virtual instruments, and 6-8 hardware synths. I have 14 expression pedals and a series of switches, all going in via USB. To control the hardware units with those, I can't use direct routing, I use MRCC's USB interface, with its 12 ports. In a MIDI file, I have a pedal set up as the input, and let's say the output is MIDI Port 4-1 (port 4, ch.1). The MRCC has that port going to a hardware synth.. BUT, you do have to assign the USB ports on the MRCC to their designated outputs, and that part is the hardest thing for me to get my head around. If something changes and it's been more than a couple days, I have to read that part in the manual again, lol! The most important part to remember, is that green goes to blue>>>>

Thanks for that - I’ve been reading the manual but found it confusing. Perhaps it’s something that will take time before it all clicks in my brain.

Perhaps you could share some settings from internal to DP please? What did you have to do there?

As far as I can figure out from within DP, even if you are sending MIDI to a virtual output, you still have to assign that virtual output on the MRCC to pass that information is that correct?

Well I was wrong about the manual, it's not very good. I must have been thinking of something else. I got my information from a video, apparently. When I went to try to find it, I found that Steve did a whole series of YT videos about the MRCC:

I messed around with the MRCC today and remembered that the way to assign the 12 DAW outputs to the hardware, is to simply select the left/green PC button, and then select the button for the hardware outputs you are using on the right side of the unit (they turn blue). If you press and HOLD the green PC button, it goes into a mode where it selects individual MIDI channels within the selected output, which turns from blue to green, so you know which output is selected.

If you want to turn an output off, you have to select its blue button first, and then press it again to turn it off. It's a little confusing to say the least..

I need a way to visualise what’s happening and then I should be cool with it.
