Plugin hardware synth editor and DP

Is there anyway to use a hardware-synth editor Plugin in digital performer? I have never been able to figure it out. I recently bought an editor for microfreak.
It comes with a standalone version, which works fine, and a plug-in version which is impossible to use in digital performer because there is no way to instantiate it. I don’t know whether it’s supposed to run as a VI or what, I don’t use any other DAW, So I can’t compare DP to anything. Is there something I’m missing here? I have the plug-in installed in my AU folder, but it doesn’t appear as a VI or plugin in either list in DP, so, no way to use it. More’s the pity Because they’re in lies the bridge betwixt DAW and hardware (automation being the primary issue).

Seems unlikely that if it's a hardware synth with a standalone app that it can be configured as a VI. But maybe DP Control Panels can be set up to control it. Long learning curve for that.

It makes me wonder if he’s talking about one of those soundquest editor plug-ins? I was wondering if it may be one of those MIDI plug-ins that aren’t really supported very well in DP? But it might be an instrument plug-in. I don’t know.
I’ve stayed clear of MIDI quest/sound quest just because I’ve heard it’s buggy and on top of it it’s expensive. On those rare occasions I want system exclusive editing, I launch a G4 Mac Mini mini running Unisyn.

What are you talking about?
Actually “it” refers to the subject of the sentence immediately preceeding it (MicroFreak Editor) which is absolutely standard English usage. But thanks so much for your super helpful feedback.

I was referring to the recently purchased MicroFreak editor, which I made abundantly clear. It was bought from an indie developer and isn’t Soundquest or any such. I was asking if anyone knows how to instantiate a plugin editor, since it doesn’t show up either as an AU instrument or audio plugin. I think maybe I have to instantiate it as a VST, not AU, which is taking a clue from another post of someone with a different but related problem. I will never understand, however, why people come on here to pick nits and try to belittle other people, play language police, etc, instead of trying to help them solve their problems.

I had no way of knowing if what you bought was proprietary or third party. You have since clarified but hadn't when I replied.

For clarities sake, AUi in DP doesn't do MIDI in/out. To get a MIDI editor that presents itself as a MIDI plugin working in DP you probably need to use the VSTi or VSTi3 version. Oddly enough SoundQuest doesn't have this limitation but OP is too busy being offended by perceived micro aggressions to tell us who the developer is, just that it's not SoundQuest.

I think the initial confusion stemmed from the lack of capitalization of "Microfreak." I must confess as to being confused until I read down a few responses and JJ set it forth clearly as the "MicroFreak Editor."
The good people 'round these parts are genuinely willing (and often able) to assist... Mr. Canavan has got us on the path, perhaps it will lead in a helpful direction.
PS: I'm sort of a macrofreak myself, unfortunately not familiar with the smaller version.
