I have a 828x.

On my laptop it works fine, on my desktop the USB device is not recognized. "configuration descriptor request failed" error.

Both are Windows 10.
I tried to remove and re-install the driver.
Tried to reboot.
I did all the relevant tweaks listed here: https://motu.com/techsupport/technotes/ ... dows-audio

Nothing. Still the same error.

Please advise, I really need to get this device working on my desktop.

Try connecting through a USB 2 hub. My motherboard's USB 3 controller got confused by the 828x USB 2 device.

If that works, order up a USB Printer cable from Amazon and connect directly. These support USB 2/1.1 only. Yamaha is now recommending these for their keyboards with connection issues.

USB 3 and USB 2 are separate protocols using different wires in the cable with a common ground and not all cables support both.
