Bounce-to-Disk Counter Format

Hey folks......
By default (it seems) the counter in my BTD window always counts in SMPTE timecode frames starting at 1 hour. Is there any way to change this? I couldn't find anything in the Time Formats dialog.

Thanks.

That's a good question. I wish I'd seen it before I spoke with MOTU about something else today.

In the manual, there are only two references to the progress window and neither are helpful.

Mine shows minutes and seconds but always starts with 1 hour. It never looks like this from pg 971:

Isn’t it giving you the time from the counter as it goes along? It probably starts at one hour because that’s where you start your recording track.

That’s not the time on my track.

Mine starts at zero like the screenshot.

I'll start with a dumb question: When you go to Counter > Set Chunk Start, is your Real Time and Frames set to 0:00:00.00 and 0:00:00:00 respectively?

I remember back in the old days when I used to sync my ADAT, I used to have Frames set to 1:00:00.00, but, that was decades ago. There may have been a setting in Preferences that I also had to do to change it to the 0 when I stopped using the ADAT.

There's a box in Preferences and Settings > Transmit Sync > First clock is time 1 (not 0). Maybe that's it?

No. Whatever the issue is, that ain't it.

FWIW: With a little fiddling around, I discovered it can change the timecode start by changing the start time (in frames) of the chunk/sequence, but I've found no way to change the counter to either real time or bars|beats|ticks.

Not a big deal, just curious as to how this is working and why MOTU apparently decided to default to TC for the BTD counter (I'm guessing bars|beats|ticks would be more useful to *most* people who use DP).

In Counter (Shift+J) go to Set Display and choose which Time type you want your Main Counter and Aux Counter to be.

I think this is about time stamping the bounce for importing.

Mine always started at 0:00:00 until I moved to DP11, then it has always been 1:00:00. Is this a nod to ProTools? Everything I ever import from PT aligns at the 1 hour mark.

1:00:00 may have started with DP 11 for me, too, but it can't have anything to do with Pro Tools for me. Some of my projects began with other users in Performer Lite. Logic isn't an issue since Ixport the tracks, then import into DP — been doing that for years.
