I have noticed the menu double click. Also the Bounce to Disk dialog doesn't populate with all the options when you first open it and you need to select a format in the dropdown menu again. But as far as speed goes, it seems fine over here.

I hasten to add that you can't blame MOTU on that one. It's what happens when you update and you have older apps that were released a few OSes ago.

It's always a good idea to go through your plugins and update them right before or after updating the OS. It can be a total pain and most definitely older plugins can be responsible for crashes and instability in DP and other DAWs, applications etc.

I have a couple hundred plugins so dozens of different developers, I'm still not 100% through the list, and it's the only time that the new paradigm of apps like Native Access, IK Product Manager and Artturia Software Center is super convenient.

At this point, I'd like to know why I should upgrade to Sonoma. I don't see a lot of compelling reasons at this point to do so. Is it snappier?

You dont mean all menus, do you? Just DP menus?

FWIW, MOTU says "Digital Performer Version 11 appears to be fully compatible with macOS Sonoma, although final compatibility testing is still on-going" but I assume you've seen that.

So far that appears to be an oxymoron.

Native Instruments is not recommending it yet. The issues appear to be more with the controllers than the VIs or plugs, however.

Although I don't recommend going to Sonoma this early, on a matter of principle, the "double-click" on menu might be by design as there seems to be an unfortunate new UX trend in that regard, which I'm noticing on some of my work apps on Windows at the office.

Pretty sure that's not the case here. Especially in light of the fact it appears to be limited to DP among DAWs.

On the other hand, if they did it for Windows, their identifier for code-switching may not recognize however Sonoma marks itself, so there's a possibility some of the code is trying to operate as though on Windows. This was a big problem when Apple switched the naming convention for the OS as no prior substring for OS recognition worked on both naming schemes.

Anyway, hopefully it'll get fixed soon and isn't an indicator of bigger issues.

I have reached out to MOTU about the double click in the menu bar, they were able to replicate the issue. I am also seeing an issue in working with pitch, it appears to work as normal in the beginning but returning to the window gives the lasso and notes cannot be moved.
