The Forgotten Key Command
Can anyone tell me if there's a key I can hold down when (in the Sequence Editor) I'm dragging a soundbite from one track to another that will constrain it to staying at the same exact point in time?

Re: The Forgotten Key Command
If the grid is normally off, you can simply use the command key to toggle it on. You can set it to be a 1/4 note, or whole note or whatever you want to keep the bites constrained in time. That's all I do.

Re: The Forgotten Key Command
Thanks, Killahurts… but is there a way to get DP to <<lock>> the soundbite position as it's being dragged so it won't inadvertently get slid to the next closest beat?Killahurts wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 1:09 pm If the grid is normally off, you can simply use the command key to toggle it on. I'm working on a rubato/free time piece and have been running DP at 120bpm but not referencing the grid, so when I hit the command key, DP won't prevent me from sliding the soundbite to the next closest beat. When I switched Time Formats to run in Real Time, I can set the grid to as small as 0.01 seconds, but it still lets me slide by that same increment.
I will try going back to measures/beats and setting the grid to a whole note and see if that helps hold it in place..

You click the soundbite then press the shift key and then drag. You need to press the shift key after clicking the soundbite.

Re: The Forgotten Key Command
Thanks, CharlzS... that works, though—if I'm moving multiple soundbites (in a track group)—I need to press shift BEFORE clicking on the soundbites, otherwise pressing shift de-selects the soundbites. Takes some getting used to.
Thanks.

Shift click to select all the soundbites then release the shift key. Click-hold on any of the selections, then shift drag.

Re: The Forgotten Key Command
Holding the Option key will create a copy in the exact spot. You can then delete the original.Rick Cornish wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 1:00 pm Can anyone tell me if there's a key I can hold down when (in the Sequence Editor) I'm dragging a soundbite from one track to another that will constrain it to staying at the same exact point in time?

Re: The Forgotten Key Command
Isn’t there a preference that tells DP to keep dragged selections either at the same time or on the same track, depending on whether the first move of the mouse is vertical or horizontal? Maybe I’m thinking of another app.

Yes. I believe that is a standard McIntosh UI convention.
