Slip tool bug?

Possible edge edit bug after using slip tool to move file within fixed time window. Have seen this a couple times.
If I use the slip tool on recorded audio, then edge edit back to a smaller soundbite, there’s a large number of duplicate layers underneath which continue to be revealed with each attempt. Have deleted as many as 6-10 before I could edge edit. If I just select and delete the soundbite, it looks like it's not working because I'm just peeling off layers. If you edge edit back and then delete you can see them disappearing, until eventually you get down to a single copy.
