Recording with iRig HD

Hi Motunation:

I'm trying to use an iRig HD 2 (guitar iOS/Mac interface) with DP10.

The ONLY way I've gotten it to work is to switch the Master Device to the iRig HD2. The problem with that is that I then lose the computer output completely which I'm using the Mac audio out for.

It seems like a professional piece of software should allow you to have a separate USB audio in and use whatever output you desire for the output WITHOUT having to buy an expensive Interface.

I really don't do that much recording, so I'm looking for a solution without having to buy another interface.
I have an 828 MKII but it's firewire and my 2019 Mac Pro doesn't support that.

Is there a way to have the Mac audio out for monitoring, and use the iRig HD2 for the input?
Garage Band Does it.
Amplitube Stand alone does it.

Am I doing something wrong in configuring?

Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation .

Nope, no support at all… but that doesn’t mean it won’t work. Mine does as do others ‘. You’ll need

Firewire 400 to 800 cable or adapter plugged into

Apple FW to TB adapter
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S ... UTF8&psc=1
plugged into

Apple TB2 to TB3 adapter
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M ... UTF8&psc=1
plugged into one of your TB3 ports.

You’ll need the correct MOTU drivers:
https://motu.com/en-us/download/

Select Audio Interface from the left column and 828mk3 Hybrid from the right. Download the following driver, install and reboot:
MOTU Audio Installer
Mac v89555 | Oct. 13, 2021
macOS 12
Read the following and do this within 20 minutes of the driver installation:

Mike - using the 2 adapters together is OK? I'm using a FW400->800 cable from my UltraLike MK3 into a FW->TB2 adapter into my MBP and it works fine. Looking ahead to my next Mac which will most certainly only have USB3/TB3 ports, I'll have to add the adapter. Dongle city!!

So what? You are 2/3 there already and $45.99 brings it home. If you want it to work, you'll need that Apple TB2–TB3 adapter plugged into your TB3/TB4 port. Besides my iMac Pro, I've tested it successfully with my M1 MacBook Air. Again, I'm not the only one around here who's done this.

That said, I rarely need that many Line Ins so my 828mkII FW normally sits on a shelf waiting till needed.

Yeah....the real problem is that the guitar/mic inputs on the 828 have a noise problem. I talked to MOTU about it and they said it had to to with the input chips on the front panel. Which makes it pretty unusable....

I contacted MOTU support about the problem and what isn't clear is that you can select multiple inputs in Master Device to allow you to monitor through the computer output and use the the iRig HD2 as the input.

I had to goof around with the sample rates and clock speed to get it to work properly, but finally got it to work.

I think a new interface is in my future.....
