FM8 is M1-Native Today. Good news / bad news! RESOLVED

Post by James Steele »

Well the M1/ARM/Apple Silicon version of FM8 dropped today. That's the good news. The bad news is apparently DP 11.21 doesn't like the AU version and it causes the MOTU Audio System to emergency stop. The kicker is it works fine in Logic Pro. This isn't the first time DP has had a problem with an AS-Native AU that Logic did not. However, there is some other good news: VST3 seems to work okay.

When I launched the new FM8, it came up blank with no patches visible. I just clicked the "Import" button and they all restored for me. So use VST3 for now I guess. I'm going to report to MOTU.

Oh... not surprisingly though, if you launch Komplete Kontrol standalone so it can scan the new FM8, you can of course use the new FM8 in DP inside of Komplete Kontrol because Komplete Kontrol loads... that's right... VST3s. :). Much easier way anyway to find what you're looking for in FM8!

Looks like NI just released *another* update to FM8 one day later. 1.4.6. Installing now. We shall see if maybe this fixes the AU issue.
