Non-destructive step recording RESOLVED

On a MIDI track, is there a way to make step-recording non-destructive? As in, I have a piano track, and I want a line of quarter notes to play simultaneously over a line of whole notes. Is there a way to achieve this in step record? Under the current defaults, it seems that recording one and then going back and recording the other overwrites the first one.

Yes. All you have to do is enable the Overdub button.
