UA OX SPDIF out 44.1 W/2408

I've been using a UA OX interface for sometime now as I'm an amp freak but have always used it via it's line out's into my desk (works great sounds great) Had a spare 2408 lying around with a SPDIF in and thought I'd give it go hooked into the OX SPDIF out.
I'm using an eight core MacPro/ PCI-e 424 card setup always running at 24/48

UA Specifically says the OX SPDIF is set/locked at 44.1(there is no way to change it to 48), does anyone know if the 2408 automatically converts the 44.1 SPDIF input to 48 if the PCI Audio setup is set to 48??

I ran everything with no issues and excellent sound quality today, no DP issues at all at no dropouts or anomaly's with the 2408 interface or my 24Io's.

Basically I'm wondering why it's working so well as it is. I can only think that the 2408 does a conversion similar to the UA Apollo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So… a setup where nothing is newer than 10 years old is working well and you want to know why?

I’d have to be looking at your actual setup to know the answer—no doubt I’d see it in few minutes but that’s not possible. Too many places to look including the DAW you don’t mention. You could start by searching the 2408 manual which is online but there’s also Apple’s Audio MIDI Setup, your CoreAudio settings…

or you can declare victory and worry about something else.

I gave my 2408 away in 2010 and just don’t remember that much about it anymore.

Thanks for your kind reply,

I'm using DP 10.11 MacPro 8 core PCIe 424 24Io x2 and the afore mentioned 2408 for the only SPDIF inpu in my system. Everything seems to be running fine I just want to know where and how 44.1 is getting interpolated on a system always setup to 24/48 in My PCI Setup Console.... something must be happening. There is no info about the SPDIF in the 2408 User manual at all..except it's a SDIF.

Best,

I’m going to say that you are getting a sample rate mismatch that will come back to bite you later. DP I thinks it’s running at 48k but the incoming spdif is really at 44.1. When those files actually play back at 48k they will be too fast and up about a 1/2 step.

Everything “appears” to be working fine but only as long as you are playing back in DP with the mismatched sample rates.

I recommend you change DP to be running at 44.1k before you do any recording you want to keep.
