Yep, I saw it. You beat me to it. Haha. Such a deal!!
At 1800 I dont feel so bad about the mac mini m1 I got for 1200 or so on ebay with 2TB, 16GB and AppleCare till 2023. 16 maybe not be much for you heavy hitters but it works for me. And I'm managing with a hub for the exra ports, so I guess it all worked out.

That's interesting. I have a friend at Apple who offered to let me use their employee discount which I don't think is that much... 15%. I wonder if they get the discount on refurbs? That said, 512GB seems a bit on the small side in terms of storage.

My son-in-law is an Apple employee and every once in a while, I use his. Last I heard, the employee discount cannot be applied to refurbs.
The refurb prices used to be a straight 14% but no longer; depends on the refurb. With that Studio, it's -10% so -15% is better @ $1,699.15.
Education store pricing on that same Studio is also $1,799. I qualify through my wife and there's a chance I'm going back into teaching this Fall. We'll see…

Oh no, I wouldn't feel bad about that at all. Depending on the exact configuration, that M1 Mini would set you back $1,798 including AppleCare. In the Refurb Store, it would run you $1,618 w/ AppleCare

I don’t have, or need, the 10GB Ethernet Mike, so a little less, but even so….

A large number of Studios, some M1 Minis, M1 & M2 MBAirs and Pros hit the USA Refurb Store this morning. There’s also a Studio Display with Nano Glass in there.
As before, prices are identical to the Apple Education Store except that they are ready for delivery now.
Although the exact Studio I want is in there, I need to hold off for now. I hope to get a job offer by the end of next week—how (or if) it works out will determine when I buy. If I don’t get the gig or if my only choice is to be an employee, I’ll need to buy this year. If the offer comes through and I can swing it as an independent contractor, I can hold off till January which I would prefer. The taxman…
