I love Garritan. Has anyone heard or used the MOTU orchestra yet? Hard to compare right now.

Peace

If you have the money, horsepower, and need, go for the EWQLSO Platinum deal. Otherwise I'd stick with Garritan. I have EWQLSO Gold and Garritan. I love them both. They both have their functions.

Haven't heard much from the MOTU product yet. I know a great place to get a good deal on Garritan. Contact me if you're interested as I don't want to advertise on here.

Yikes!

I never realized it costs more thousand dollars.

The price was not quoted in the magazine ad I saw.

I sure have no interest in spending that kind of monies for my studio works.

Thanks for telling me about the price.

Garritan Personal Orchestra is around $250. Garritan
Strings is another matter... If you do a lot of work with strings, bite the bullit and lay the cash down for Garritan, Vienna, or EWSO. If will be the best investment you ever made.

Peace

Gary, quite honestly I find the VSL timpani rolls and hits that come with GS3 Orchestra to be real good!

here is a snippet of Clara Schumann's Piano Concerto in A Minor Opus 7. This is all GPO except GOS strings and VSL timpani.

There is an advert for MOTU's Symphonic Instrument in this months Sound On Sound. No mention of a release date though. Sounds neat,
, I guess the new OS X update will coincide with any MOTU product updates. It'll be interesting to see/hear what it's capable of.

The garrittan sounds Mikey Mouse compared to the EWQLSO - you get what you pay for I suppose - the EWQLSO isn't cheap, but as far as sounding like the "real thing" you can beat it.

There are some "group" buys on the EWQLSO - which take the sting out of the price a bit.

I am very curious about the MOTU orchestra plug - I hope it's better then the samples that came with Mach 5 as they we not very good.

Hey Gary for what it's worth the best sounding Timps for me are the old Roland Perc library - if you can find that CD ROM and then convert them with something like the Chicken systems Translator. They sound the most convincing to me. The CD was only like 100.00 USD way back when when I bought them. They are no longer out there from Roland but I'm sure you can find someone/somewhere that has a copy you can check out.

Very cool.. I'll try and locate the Roland Perc disk.

Might be on a cheap synth somewhere on eBay.

Hate to ask a stupid question, but what is EWQLSO? Is it the Vienna Symphony collection?
