Any way to nudge a note by time instead of beat?

Hi all,
In Cubase I can nudge by 1 second but don’t see a way to do this in DP. Is it possible?

Yes but...

The default Nudge is 5ms so press it 200x for 1 second. Ok, I suppose that you can change it to 1 second if the feel the need (not sure if you can set it that high). I have it set for 1ms so I'd have to… nevermind…

Although it's easy to change the setting, I don't know of a way to temporarily override or multiply the setting. Sounds like a cool feature request, however.

You can set Nudge Resolution in the Snap Information window to Milliseconds. There is a keyboard command to Increase or Decrease Nudge Resolution. If you the set resolution set to 1ms, this command will increase it by 1ms up to 50ms, and then it will increase to preset values of 100, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, etc. If you want to to be 1 second most of the time, simply set it to 1000 ms.

There are also commands (unassigned) to rotate the resolution type through ms, beat, tics, samples, etc. If you set type to Tics, the preset values will be values like 1, 60, 120, 240, I Bar, etc.

With these you can use keyboard commands to set nudge to any type and to any of the preset values.

Like Mike, I set the nudge to a low value, and just hold down the arrow key to move things more, unless I have something that has been played very sloppily and then I might increase it to 15 ms.

Note that if you set the time line to Real Time and you drag an object a small window opens up telling you how far you have moved it in seconds. If you have Snap turned off, it's not so difficult to drag something by 1 second.

The reason for this is the use of Viper which triggers streamers and punches without requiring a movie to be imported (slight advantage over the native streamers). However, the time it takes to manually line up these so that the punch happens at the downbeat is more than tedious. There are other reasons I'm trying to do this and it's all for live performance. Ideally I want a counter with bar/beat, name, and streamers, but so far it's not as simple as I would have hoped.

It's kind of a funny thing, that sometimes I can get better resolution using ticks than time, depending on the tempo. :-)

Lately, I have switched mostly to adjusting "notes" and sound bites by time (in milliseconds), but as it doesn't seem possible to bring that value down below a certain threshold, I sometimes switch to ticks as that in some cases gives me the finer resolution that I need.
