Ethernet file sharing not working.

Hi!
I can't make my Mac ethernet file sharing to work between two older (circa 2010)Mac Pros. One machine is actually a mid 2009 4 core that I upgraded to a 6 core 3.46Ghz.32GB (master). The other Machine is mid 2010, (slave) 12 core 3.33Ghz, 64GB. The Model Identifier on both machines is 5,1. OS is Mojave 10.14.06.
I have the Vienna 7 Server on the slave with my VI's and trying to send the info to DP on my master machine. Both machines say Ethernet is connected and working:
Master: Ethernet 1 is currently active and has the IP address 10.0.0.1.
Slave: Ethernet 1 is currently active and has the IP address 10.0.0.2.
and I can see both machines in the network settings on the "opposite monitors. Screen sharing actually works. However, when I try to connect to file sharing the connection fails.
I am trying to connect via USB-c cable, however it makes no difference whether I'm on the Ethernet or USB-c cable, the results are the same. Does anybody have any experience with this?? Help!!
