Is anyone running large templates in DP11 on a 16GB M1 Mac Mini? If so, I would love to hear your experience. I may have to switch from my old Intel machine before the new M1 machines come out later this year.

You should DEFINITELY have this plug-in available. I just looked at the package contents of the Digital Performer 11.04 app, and all the standard MAS plugs are contained within the app itself and Reverse is in there.

Ummm. Looks like a bot? This is a quote that I wrote in a different topic.

Was that you, smashprod? Someone going by robinkyle11 made exact same post elsewhere.

Oh good. That’s fine. Between that and the weird reappearance of my post by someone else, I was concerned there might be some forum database corruption going on, so I’m relieved.

I’ve been running DP 11. 04 on the new M1 Mac Mini with about 90 mono audio tracks (24k) and several multitimbral virtual instruments.

I’ve been using performer since around 1986 and I can tell you that I’ve never had so much fun as this year.

That's great news. I would be running at least a dozen instances of Vienna Ensemble Pro 7, and an equal number of instances of Altiverb. I'm still nervous about buying a machine with less than 32 GB, but maybe with this new "unified" memory RAM is more efficient??

If the project is symphonic in nature, You might hit a peak of how many samples you can load. with some of the really deeply sampled orchestral instruments, you may need to render the woodwinds while you’re working on the brass, and then render the brass while you’re working on the woodwinds, purging the samples each time. you can fairly quickly purge and reload if you’re used to doing this.

I’m using just a few instances of kontakt packed with orchestral instruments, but for this project I’m also running a lot of virtual instruments that are synthetic in nature (Spectrasonics) and wouldn’t require so much ram.

So you might run into a peak which would require workarounds. You could try loading them in your current computer and see how much RAM your template takes up.

Rumor has it M1 Pro/Max Mini is coming in mid-March, so holding out for a few more weeks might not be a bad idea.

Pro SOC can address 32GB RAM, Max SOC up to 64.

That is exactly my current thinking. I have a score to write for a limited series, but they wrap principal photography in March, so I doubt they'll need me until May, hopefully the timing will work out. If the M1 Mac Mini Pro is delayed, though, I would like to have a back up plan, like knowing that DP 11 works on the Mac Pro 7,1 or the discontinued iMac Pro.

I'm begging the MoTU engineers to let me know if either of those machines will work.

Not a MOTU Engineer but I can assure you that DP 11.04 is working great on my 18 core iMac Pro, pumping out a couple of projects a week. Fortunately, the problem below isn't affecting DP, Adobe or FCPx.

I'm having issues but they're with Apple and began with Monterey 12.2. They want to replace my machine under AppleCare+ (and will come to my house to do it). I want them to diagnose the frickin' problem and replace hardware only if that's the cause. I went to this rodeo 2 years ago after a Mojave security update and after refusing a replacement iMP then, they found three very old .kxt files were trying to load at startup. Apple is refusing to run startup trace this time. I have over 60 hours into this already including a 40 hour Time Machine Restore after my T2 was reset wiping my 4TB System drive. My fear is that they will replace the machine, I will restore from backup again and the problem will not have been resolved. I am, however, doing a TM backup to a 4TB SSD over Thunderbolt so that a complete restore should take only 5–6 hours if I have to go through that again.

How many support people guessing blindly does it take to totally screw up a system? Trying to think of a funny answer but when this is done, I'll know the number.

There's lotsa happy iMac Pro and 7,1 Mac Pro users here on MN, so that shouldn't be a problem. As you probably know a lot of plugins and apps aren't AS or even Monterey-ready. An interim Intel Mac may be a better choice for work in May anyway. Also, if your large templates involve VE Pro, the Monterey/AS compatible MAS version of VE Pro might not be around for awhile btw - my guess is fall at the soonest.
