Sorry for the longish post...
I've just come back into AVB world after a long rest and by chance this week someone posted a comment on this video about MOTU- Presonus AVB
https://youtu.be/TgBdiea4Z5g
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi There, I hope you are well, I have a drop out issue on my Motu LP32, but only when I adjust the gain on my Presonus 32r, AVB connected, all on the same sample rate, ive tried clocking them each as master slave, slave master etc. seems that the preamp control is causing some sort of drop out, I just wondered if you have had this with your setup at all? if I do not touch the gain it all works fine, im pulling my hair out lol especially after investing into AVB
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
... so I tried my MOTU 112D and Presonus 16R and lo I had the same problem.
I pinged Presonus who replied immediately - they support the MILAN protocol (extension, version, standard - I'm not sure what word to use!) which is founded on AVB - TSN etc. etc.
https://avnu.org/Milan/
But MOTU aren't at that party and part of MiLAN is defining which bits of AVDECC to implement. Under MILAN Presonus use custom AVDECC controls for gain trim and phantom. These were not being handled by the 112D.
I logged a Techlink with MOTU and within half a day I had a reply from Matt Batson and a new firmware download for the 112D. Labelled - MOTU AVB 1.3.5+1436 for 8M, 16A, 1248 and 112D
I installed this and joy unbounded - I can fiddle with my trims on the 16R and jump up and down on the phantom without a problem. Thanks to MOTU and Presonus for top service. Just a note I don't see this firmware currently on the MOTU download page.

Interesting, Thanks for the report. There is a new Pro Audio Driver Mac v90528 | Feb. 16, 2022 but the new firmware is not up yet.
Someone else posted an issue with the 1248. I’ll see if I can find it and link to this thread.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the pointer to the new driver, I assume the new firmware will come eventually. Interoperability is good news for everyone in AVB world.
