what brand replacement fans would you recommend for an MDD that would bring it down to a tolerable level?
i've been hunting and hunting and all i can find is this outfit in germany that has a mod kit for like 200 euros!
i just recorded vox for the first time on it and man, that puppy's loud!!

This is a guranteed miracle fix for the MDD noise problem. Forget fans (they obviously can only help), but this is all you need to fix the problem with the MDD's.

Search for "CHUD Tools" on google. You will find a link to a page on Apple's web site.

DOWNLOAD CHUD 3.5.2.......not 4.2.2. ONLY 3.5.2 will work!

After you install check your System Preferences panel. Look for "Hardware" at the bottom. Click it and enable the NAP check box.

That's all. You should notice a SIGNIFICANT temperature drop and noise reduction in less than 1 minute.

musicmanphil...

Just installed CHUD 3.5.2 and clicked the Nap button within the System Preferences>Other>Hardware dialog box.

Thanks for the tip!

Fan noise dropped dramatically within 90 seconds or so!

Running iPulse, I saw temps slightly increasing from about 135 to 137.9 degrees, generally remaining steady within this spread after 15 minutes or so....right this minute: 137.3 degrees.

What is the generally acceptable temp operating range for a MMD 1.25 ghz dual G4?

Thanks!

(just being cautious)

wow! I've had the Verax power supply fans sitting under my desk for ages, but installing them requires a complete removal and dis-assembly of the power supply, so I'd never found the moment to put them in.

Installed the CHUD tools and just listened as my fan noise went down to about half the level I've grown used to since getting the MDD 1.25 over a year ago.

Great tip!!

.......CT
