frozen screen imac

HI all. I was working on my iMac (2020, Intel chip) and the screen froze up. Here's what happened...
I was attempting to connect my iPhone to the iMac via bluetooth, to see if I could send music files to the iMac, and then to my speakers via my ADA. I was in System Preferences, and somewhere/somehow in there the screen froze, and I have no activity with the keyboard, my trackpad, or a mouse. Funny thing is, I got an update announcement from Apple since then, so it must be talking to the internet.
I was unable to do the command/option/escape thing, so turned it off with the on/off switch, and restarted via the on/off switch, and no go. Unplugged the iMac from the wall, replugged, and still nothing.
I loaded OS 11 on the iMac a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if this is the cause or not, and haven't had any OS problems that I know of since starting with OS 11. I looked through MOTUnation website, but haven't found any clues.
Help?
