How to get phantom power On on M8

Hello!
I have bought M8 interface from shop in Amsterdam, it was "B-stock" which means slightly cheaper (still more than 800 euros), but already opened product and either returned (with 100% proper function) or used for display in store. Anyways, the Motu came without it's original box and without waranty or serial number. So I can't really register it, or even contact Motu support without that number.
Problem is: I can't make the phantom power on Motu's inputs work.
M8 has 8 inputs and all 8 inputs have switch for phantom power. But the switch doesn't go On: no lights, no phantom power, not phisically
and not in the virtual mixer. The inputs work for regular signal, but phantom is disabled. I saw a video on Youtube about that problem, but it was with M4 which had XLR inputs. The problem was solved, as it was mistake in the construction, and taping extra tape to make xlr 1mm wider helped Motu detect the cable and turn on the phantom. But M8 has jack inputs and that won't work here.
I know I could buy external phantom power, but the point is to carry around as little as possible gear and since I should already have it in M8 (one of the reasons i bought it) I should find the way to make it work. It's there, but it's somehow "disabled".
Anyone has any tips? I know this is not isolated problem, but so far no solution for it.
Thanks for your time,
