I did buy a MOTU 24I/O with DP 4.6 as software, the problem is that when playing some tracks on my Soundtracs Solitare mixer I get a to loud output. The mixer has an input level of +4dBu, what I'm doing wrong???
Please help...

Sure about the +4dBu? I'm working with a 24 i/o and a Soundtracs Quartz and everything is fine. (0 dBFS on interface about +10 dBu on Console)
So are you talking about Peak or VU? Is the Channel Clipping? Try to switch the 24 i/o to -10dBV in the PCI Audio Console. If it's better than, the Solitaire might be jumpered to -10 dBV. Check it.
Sorry, I'm tolking about peaks...

Do you have any other ideas. I'm very confused...

Hm... strange indeed. I'm not so familiar with the Solitaire but I think it might be very similar to the Quartz.
Problem must be on Mixer... th 24 i/o won't blow out 56dBu
Connected to Tape Return I/P ?
Is this happening on all Channels?
How did the Console work before / which gear?
On the Quartz the Tape- Return Level is set with two jumpers. Haven't got the Tech Manual here... I think there can be problems if these are set wrong. So... check the jumpers.
You can mail me your settings- I'm sure we can get this.
P.S.: Nice one, the Solitaire!

Before I was running with a Tascam MSR-24 tape machine without problems, and yes it happens on all channels. I never take a look to the jumpers I beleave I have to split the board.
Can maybe have somenthing to do with the cables???
Thanks for you help...

No, cables won't boost gain.
Feel free to mail me some photos of the console and the connections, just to see if everything is correct: u l i (at) v i b e r i d e . d e

Hi schwarz, I think the problem is as follow:
Normal when you insert a mic into the mixer line, the signal goes thru the mic gain/line control, when inserting a cd-player into 2tracks the signal goes also thru the mic/line gain control, BUT... when you use TAPE 1-40 the signal doesn't goes thru the gain control, it goes direct to the EQ section and bypass the gain control. Means, you have not gain control.
