DP 10 and SSL UF8

Hello everyone, I saw one other topic on this but didn't really address my question. I'm starting to think my Mackie Control (the old grey one) is going to hit the dust very soon. Like many, I've been underwhelmed with what's available control surface wise, in the $1000ish and under range. I've tried the PreSonus Faderport 8 and just wasn't impressed.
I don't really need much functionality beyond Faders, Pan, Jog Wheel and basic Transport. The Mackie was a solid unit and I'd like to replace it with a piece of hardware that's made well. Nothing against those smaller Korg type controllers but they just won't work. Really interested in the SSL UF8 because the build quality looks good. I see it has limited HUI functionality with DP10 but wondering if that's all I need. Has anyone tried one of these with DP? The SSL site says Faders and Pan work but doesn't say whether you can program some of the assignable buttons to 'Play', 'Record' 'Stop' and if the knob works for scrolling through a track. Would be curious to get some feedback and if anyone knows whether SSL will attempt to create a 360 profile for DP in the future?
