An internal mixdown?

I run an all virtual instrument setup. I'd like to mixdown my songs without having to freeze tracks. I don't want to add the extra freezetracks to my sequences just to make a referce mix. I use to use a Tascam CD recorder hooked up to my 828MKII's digital outs to make reference mixes. It seems redundent to go back to using the CD recorder if everything I need is built into my G5.
Here's what I'd like to do: I would like to send the digital out on my 828mkii to it's own digital input or the digital input on the g5 and drop a reference mix without any fuss. I tried simply connecting the 828's digital in to it's digital out but I couldn't figure out how to route this within DP4.6. I also have Peak I can mix to but I'm not sure how to set up the g5's digital input to see the 828's digital out. The MIDI/AUDIO utility was no help and wouldn't see a clock source on my 828.
Im guessing the easiest way would be to loop the 828's digital signals.
Can anyone shed some light on making this work. Thanks in advance!
